Web Divas Suck

Tuesday, January 24th, 2006

I’m so mad for my friend, Colleen. She paid for a design and blog implementation from the Web Divas almost two months ago and they have been IGNORING her and her requests for the work she paid for. That is so unprofessional and unfathomable to me. I’m only posting here to warn any of you who might be thinking about using them and to help spread the word about their lack of business ethics. You can read about Colleen’s ordeal right here.

What’d Ya Say?

Monday, January 23rd, 2006

I’m surprised at how many of you don’t own sex toys or don’t hide them if you do!

On to more exciting topics… many of you who know me know that I’m hard of hearing. The last time I was tested I was at about 65% loss in both ears. I was born with a hearing loss of 40% in both ears, so it’s just getting progressively worse. It’s pretty scary, but I try not to think about it too hard. It’s obviously something genetic, too, because my sister was born with the same exact loss and hers has gotten progressively worse as well. She went to the doctor today because her aides have not been performing so well. The verdict ended up being that she has to get new hearing aides – to the tune of $2600! That’s outrageous, isn’t it? I am scared now, because her aides are only 5 years old and mine are going on 8 years old. Time to start shopping around, I guess!

Everyone in the family keeps saying that we’re going to have to learn sign language eventually. It’s always been a sort of joke, like a ha ha – that’s funny… but, not really – kinda thing. The older I get, the more I think that my ASL days are closer than I’d like them to be. I hope that one day there will be technology to fix my hearing, but only when it gets really bad. To tell the truth, I like being able to take my hearing aides out at night and getting peace and quiet. Taking my aides out at night is akin to taking my bra off at the end of the day: sweet relief. If my hearing gets completely fixed, I’ll have to hear everything all the time. I might go crazy! Seriously!

Well, at least I have my eyesight…. for now.

Bedroom Toys

Saturday, January 21st, 2006

Up until a few weeks ago, I kept all of my sex toys in a shoe box. I have lots of shoe boxes in my closet and I kept this one way in the back, so I figured it was a good hiding spot. I didn’t think the kids would go looking through my shoes to see what different shoes I have. And apparently I’m not alone in this thinking. But, there was always that fear in the back of my mind – what if they do? So Rob and I decided to invest in a lock box briefcase sort of thing to store the goods. We thought, “This is perfect. It’s got two locks and plenty of room. We’ll store it under the bed or in the closet and we won’t have to worry about the kids finding ‘our stash’.”

Well. Let me tell you – that lock box has invited more questions and conversations and lies than the inconspicuous unlocked shoe box ever did! I am now more worried that Aric is going to break into the lock box than I ever was that he’d accidentally happen upon our little old shoe box. So now the search is on – again.

Google has provided some gems. How about instead of a shoe box – a hanging shoe organizer? Too big? What about a desk organizer then? No? A spice rack, perhaps? Or how about a $40 discreet box from Good Vibrations? That seems like the best (and only?) option at this point.

So tell me. Where do you keep your bedroom toys?

Exhausted.

Friday, January 20th, 2006

There are no other words to describe me tonight. Just simply exhausted. I’m so glad it’s Friday. I plan to do some major sleeping and lounging around this weekend.

In the good news department: I got my desk today and the wiring and electrician guys have managed to make it so wires are not hanging from my ceiling and all around me as I work. I also got my company cell phone today. Sweet! Now I have to find out how to cancel my personal account and switch Connor over to something on his own since the two of us are on the family plan. Aric is asking for a cell phone, too, but I’m still thinking he’s too young.

I’m going to get my PJ’s on, take my makeup off and either read a book or watch some DVR’d TV.

Hey. Does it smell like updog in here or is it just me?

The Boob Tube

Wow – thanks for all the laughs today, guys.

NOT!!!

Okay, thank you, Geeky. The only one who cares about me, I guess. ;-)

Anyway, I’ll just amuse myself I suppose. I watched both episodes of American Idol … that’s always amusing. I just love Simon – because he is usually saying what I’m thinking. It truly amazes me how there are people in this world who just have the most distorted self-perspective possible. I mean, how are these people getting by in life like this? Blows my mind. Favorite guy from tonight: the “entretepreneur” with the cleaning business of tongue-twisting slogan fame. Loved it! No wait, mabye it was the “guy” at the very end. Hard choice.

I’m such a sap, too, because I totally teared up at least 3 times tonight! When the girl who was evicted got picked, when the cowboy got picked (bless his heart! I mean, really.), when the rocker dude with the crying wife got picked…

And another weird thing – Ryan Seacrest isn’t bothering me this year! What’s going on here??

In other TV news – I watched Boston Legal, too. It’s so difficult to watch Michael J. Fox, especially in the role he’s playing on this show – a man dying of cancer. He’s not dying of cancer in real life, but he IS dying from Parkinson’s, I believe. That breaks my heart and I already know I’m going to be a sobbing fool in the next 2 episodes. Sigh. Also, I’m really growing to love the new lawyer (the one who is playing MJF’s love interest)… I didn’t like her at first, but now I do. She’s also drop-dead gorgeous. And? I love the makeup on this show. I want the makeup artist from Boston Legal to come do my makeup every morning.

Ahhhhhh, mindless stuff… way better than the heavy irritability from this morning, no?
