I Want My $2!

Thursday, April 20th, 2006

Well, I woke up this morning to quite the scare! I was doing my online banking through Quicken and saw a mysterious charge on there for $1262…. so I asked Rob if he knew what it was – he didn’t. Then I went to the bank’s website and looked up my pending transactions and there was a whole slew of them that were not ours! Totalling $2135!!! You can imagine that my heart stopped – especially since I’ve had a lot of fears around money lately with the impending house buying. I immediately got on the phone with the bank and thankfully, they were very good about it. Plug for Commerce Bank here! I went into the branch this morning and they already reissued us our debit cards, they’ve cancelled our old ones and they are going to credit us the fraudulent charges until the investigation is completed. So, I’m satisified with that outcome – it looks like all the charges were in Mexico. Very strange! And now I’m totally paranoid to use my card for anything. Damn thieves.

Mmmm… fresh!

I don’t really use dryer sheets too much, instead I usually use my Downy ball with Clean Breeze scent. I I love the smell of Downy’s Vanilla & Lavendar so much, but I’m usually too cheap to splurge on it. We do often buy a box of the Lavendar Vanilla dryer sheets just to throw in a load once in a while – especially towels and sheets. The last time I went to the store, I bought a box and it’s been sitting on my kitchen counter because I’ve been too lazy to take it down to the basement where the laundry “room” is. (Side note: can’t wait for the laundry room – in the true sense, even! – to be on the same floor as the rest of the house!) Anyway, the box has been smelling so good, I decided to rip it open and take two sheets into work with me today. I placed one on each side of my office so now I’m in Vanilla & Lavendar heaven at work. Yay for small pleasures.

I keep forgetting to blog! I don’t know what my problem is. How was everyone’s week? Any plans for Easter?

Rob is upstate fishing with his dad, so it’s me and the boys until Saturday afternoon. Tomorrow we are going to the Franklin Institute to see the Body Worlds exhibit with my friend, Liz. Very excited about that!! For Easter Sunday, we’ll all head over to my mom’s, as usual.

I got my hair cut last night – just went in to get bangs cut in because the little side bangs were driving me crazy getting into my eyes. Well, I made a big mistake. I look like I just stepped back in time 20 years. I love the 80′s, but I don’t need to relive them! I am so pissed at my hairdresser because she cut the bangs SO short. I mean, I didn’t know when I told her I wanted bangs that she’d cut them within an inch of their life! Hello, my hair is precious! Does she not know this?? Anyway… I was majorly traumatized last night and I talked to my good buddy Aimee and she helped me get over myself. She kept reminding me that it’s only hair and that it does grow back. I know these things, but STILL. Damn. Sucks.

Of course you know I took pictures. Don’t point and laugh. Just nod sympathetically, mmkay??

Kegger

They just put up signs in the office for a Spring Fling happening tomorrow. Complete with beer and snacks. Dude. My office is totally throwing a keg party! Too funny. Also, too bad I don’t drink any more. Or eat snacks. Ha!

Get a haircut… and get a real job

Thursday, April 6th, 2006

One of my employees gave his 2 weeks’ notice so now we’re going through the interview process. Man, do I hate interviewing people! I guess it’s better than being interviewed, though. I always want to be like, “Look, cut the shit… really think about the job and see if it would work for you. Do you REALLY want this job or will you be satisfied landing any job and just want to make a buck?” I think it’s important for the interviewee to be interviewing us, too. If people come in who aren’t doing that, I’m not interested in them. And what is the deal with people who are not even remotely qualified submitting their resumes? I haven’t been looking for a job for a long time now (thankfully), but when I was – I only sent my resume out to places I was truly interested in and qualified for. It’s like people scan for keys words and see a few that fit them and submit before reading the whole job description. Bizarre.

Speaking of office stuff – have you seen these April Fool’s Day videos from The Office yet? Funny stuff.
