We’re In!

We got the house!!!!!! YES!!!!!!

Their appraisal came back $4K higher than ours and they lowered their sales price to match the appraisal. They had some other terms and conditions that we went back and forth on a few times and then we came to an agreement. We’ll be signing papers this week. I can’t believe we’re finally going to own our own house!!! It’s been so long in coming. I also can’t believe the amount of mortgage we’re going to be paying every month. Yikes! It will be totally worth it. Right?? :-)

Allow me to share with you the thoughts that run through my head on any given day now.

  • As I’m washing dishes: In two months I will have a dishwasher! No more hand-washing dishes! Sweet!
  • As I pull up to the house at night and see the garage door wide open because the little guy was the last one in and he isn’t tall enough to reach to close it: Automatic garage door opener! Which means automatic garage door CLOSER! Sweet!
  • As I trudge down the basement steps with a basket of dirty clothes: Laundry room on the main level! Sweet!
  • As I listen to my guys jam in the basement, which I like for the most part, but at times it’s annoying: Sound-proof recording studio! Sweet!
  • As I watch the cars go flying down my street: Dead-end, cul-de-sac street that leads to a playground at the end! Sweet!
  • As I try to find some privacy in our current on-the-small-side house: A living room and TWO family rooms! Sweet!
  • As I look out at our steep, smallish, hilly yard that you can’t even put a badminton net on: Flat, level yard! A third of an acre! Sweet!
  • As I look at the dirty aluminum stove-top pans: Flat-top stove! Sweet!
  • As I try to fit all of groceries and dishes into limited cabinet space: More cabinets! An over-the-staircase Lazy Susan pantry! Sweet!
  • As I think about all the very slow walking and falls I’ve had on the darn long walkways and steps to get into this house: No more stairs! Flat, not too long walkway from driveway to front door! Or garage entry without having to go up stairs to be on the living level! Sweet!
  • As I think about the nice, double, extended driveway at this place: Double, extended driveway at the new place, too! Sweet!
  • As I’m driving 10-15 minutes to my favorite grocery store: TWO of my favorite grocery stores less than 5 minutes away! Sweet!
  • As I think about not being able to have a dog – even my parents’ dog as a visitor!: I can have as many dogs as the township allows! No more asshole landlord! Sweet!
  • As I think about the one air-conditioning unit for the whole house and sweating in our bedroom on summer nights: Central air! Sweet!
  • As I think about entertaining in this house in its limited space and capacity: Lots of space! A wet bar, pool table and family room in the basement! Sweet!

I could go on for a while – and I usually do in my head, but I’ll spare you. I think you get the gist – we’re happy as pigs in shit to be getting the hell out of here and into our own freaking house! A sweet house, at that!!
