Slump

Tuesday, May 9th, 2006

I’m in a funk, slump, whatever. We got news that our house has to have flood insurance on it as mandated by FEMA… and the quotes thus far are coming in around $229 a MONTH. The hell? I am officially 3 months overdue on a raise I was promised at work. Again – the hell? I’ve got my period and cramps and all the joy that goes with that. I’d like to ask God – the hell?? Why? Why do women have to suffer this torture once a month? Dang.

So yeah, that’s why I’ve been quiet. When I get stressed, I turn completely inwards, isolate and shut down. Good times. Just ask Rob.

“They” say it’s the little things. And I believe that. Here’s a little thing that totally made my day already – I saw my first gosling this morning on my way into work. See?

gosling

Well, I know it’s hard to see – but just trust me on this, mmkay? :-)

And this truly is a little thing – in the very literal sense. Sure, they grow up to walk around our office development and leave big green turds all over the place, but for today, they are the cutest little balls of yellow fur I’ve ever seen.

American Weigh

Geeky posted about her great experience with 1-800-CONTACTS this morning and it reminded me that I wanted to post about my great experience with a company, too!

A couple months ago I ordered this digital food scale from AmericanWeigh.com. It rocks. But after a few weeks the larger plastic tray that came with it cracked. After perusing their site and not being able to find just the trays to order, I emailed American Weigh to ask if it was possible to do that. They wrote back that they would send me one free of charge. How nice is that? Fast forward about a week and I get a tray in the mail. The only problem was, it was the smaller of the two trays – not the larger one that had cracked for me. So I wrote them back and they still sent out the larger tray – free of charge! It is rare to get such service these days, so I was pleasantly surprised.

If you’re ever in the market for a scale, AmericanWeigh.com is a very good place to start!
