In my earlier post today, I wrote that Aric and I got our nails done. You might be wondering what, exactly, Aric had done. Well, long-time readers might not be wondering… but if you’re new around here, you might be! Aric loves to get pedicures. It all started when I had him with me one time as I was getting my nails done. He started complaining to my nail tech about his ingrown toenail. The nail tech suggested we let one of his girls (he’s also the owner) get the ingrown out. I honestly hadn’t even thought of that idea, but decided it would be worth a shot. I asked Aric if he wanted to try it and he said he was game – and a pedicure lover was born. Anyway, he had another ingrown yesterday – actually he’s had it for a quite a while – and so they performed “surgery” again on him yesterday. You should have seen the size of the piece of nail that was embedded in the side of his toe! Poor kid.
I’m wondering, though, what causes ingrowns to happen so frequently the way they do with him? He seems to get at least 3-4 ingrown toenails a year. I don’t know if it’s because he picks at his nails when they grow out instead of letting them grow out all the way? Someone has suggested it’s the loose shoes he wears, because you know he can’t tie his shoes tight. Oh no, that wouldn’t be cool, mom! I wish I could figure out what to do to prevent these suckers. Not that it would matter all that much, I have a feeling he might still be bugging me to get pedicures even without ingrowns. This kid – loves shoes and pedicures. And he’s not opposed to manicures, either. I do believe I’m raising a true “metrosexual”. Ha!
