Hey Nineteen

Saturday, July 29th, 2006

Have you been following the story about Steely Dan insisting Owen Wilson apologize for ripping off their song ‘Cousin Dupree’ with his new movie, ‘You, Me & Dupree’? Well, Owen Wilson’s manager released a statement in response that just cracked me the hell up.

“I hope this helps to clear things up and I can get back to concentrating on my new movie, ‘HEY 19.’ ”

Hahahaha!

U2 – Back at it

Saturday, July 29th, 2006

Woo! Exciting stuff in the land of U2. Someone in France recorded them practicing some of their new songs. You can check it out here. I am so excited that they are already in the studio getting ready for a new album. These guys are just unstoppable. After our great experience on their last tour, we will definitely be going to see them again next time around. I think Bono is great doing all of his humanitarian work, but he makes me happiest when he’s doing his music. :-)

Ingrowns

Saturday, July 29th, 2006

In my earlier post today, I wrote that Aric and I got our nails done. You might be wondering what, exactly, Aric had done. Well, long-time readers might not be wondering… but if you’re new around here, you might be! Aric loves to get pedicures. It all started when I had him with me one time as I was getting my nails done. He started complaining to my nail tech about his ingrown toenail. The nail tech suggested we let one of his girls (he’s also the owner) get the ingrown out. I honestly hadn’t even thought of that idea, but decided it would be worth a shot. I asked Aric if he wanted to try it and he said he was game – and a pedicure lover was born. Anyway, he had another ingrown yesterday – actually he’s had it for a quite a while – and so they performed “surgery” again on him yesterday. You should have seen the size of the piece of nail that was embedded in the side of his toe! Poor kid.

I’m wondering, though, what causes ingrowns to happen so frequently the way they do with him? He seems to get at least 3-4 ingrown toenails a year. I don’t know if it’s because he picks at his nails when they grow out instead of letting them grow out all the way? Someone has suggested it’s the loose shoes he wears, because you know he can’t tie his shoes tight. Oh no, that wouldn’t be cool, mom! I wish I could figure out what to do to prevent these suckers. Not that it would matter all that much, I have a feeling he might still be bugging me to get pedicures even without ingrowns. This kid – loves shoes and pedicures. And he’s not opposed to manicures, either. I do believe I’m raising a true “metrosexual”. Ha!

Refreshed

Saturday, July 29th, 2006

Ahhh… I feel good today. Last night, I got off of work, went and picked the kids up, dropped Connor off at home and Aric and I went to get our nails done. I didn’t get home until close to 8. My parents were over and I made myself dinner. By 9:30, I was wiped out and fading fast on the couch watching Apollo 13. Rob came home from the Phillies game around 10:30 and my parents left shortly after. I think I fell asleep around 11, but I’m not sure. I just know I woke up at 1, on the couch with Aric sleeping next to me and the TV still on. LOL

This morning, though, I woke up refreshed. I did the bills, cleaned the kitchen, ate breakfast, chatted with Rob about our plans for the day and I’m ready to begin my weekend. On the agenda: getting the rest of the supplies to finish up our bedroom and to start our family room. Then finishing up the bedroom. Yay! Once the family room is done, we have to furnish the front living room and then all the major things on the inside of the house will be done. I need to start making a list of all the little things we want to do in each room so we can start knocking them out next. We aren’t going to know what to do with our time once we’re done all this stuff!

Owwww! I feel good.

You know what’s a great feeling? Walking into work and having your husband stop in his tracks and lust after you. (We work together, for those of you who don’t know.) He couldn’t keep his eyes or hands off of me – I guess he really likes the outfit I have on! The other day one of Connor’s camp counselors about lost his mind when he found out I was his mom. His eyes popped out of his head! Hee! Damn it feels good to be 36, married for almost 14 years and still have “it”. I’m hoping I still have “it” for a while to come, my genes seem to be good, my mom doesn’t look anywhere near her age and people have mistaken us for sisters in the past. I’m going to be depressed when I *really* start aging. But, that’s not today, thank God!

Okay, sorry for the total and completely vain post. Heh!
