Explosion

Wednesday, July 26th, 2006

So last night I had my dinner in the oven on 400°F. I was downstairs when I heard Rob yell for me. He said, “There’s something wrong, you need to come here!” I rush upstairs and he’s standing in front of the oven in bewilderment; the glass on the inside of the oven door had completely shattered! He said he was just sitting at the table when he heard a gigantic boom, he looked up and saw the shattered glass. I’m not sure what could have caused something like that to happen?? The oven doesn’t look very old at all and when I want on GE’s website, I found an updated version to the model I have, so that tells me it can’t be that old. Luckily the oven is covered under a warranty plan we purchased – so hopefully we’ll get either the glass or the oven replaced and just have to pay our $50 deductible. I hope it gets fixed fast, too, I used the oven pretty frequently.

Two is better

I know I’m late to the game with this one where my fellow IT friends are concerned, but this morning I got a 2nd monitor to use! Now I can drag my Photoshop files over to the 2nd monitor where the colors are actually rendered correctly and look like they do in print. This laptop is great, but some times the colors just don’t show up the way they should. I’m all psyched about all the extra desktop space I have now. I scoffed at everyone in the office who has been using two monitors and now I feel so… empowered! Fun, fun, fun.

Shoe Whore

Tuesday, July 25th, 2006

I’m totally raising a little shoe whore, but I swear I have not influenced him! Aric has loved shoes for a few years now – he likes to own at least 3-5 different pairs of skate shoes per season. He came in to me tonight to let me know he was school shopping ahead of time to “save me money”. You should have seen all the browser windows he had opened. (He’s 9, he doesn’t get how tabs work yet. LOL) Apparently DCs and Etnies are passe and Adio is the brand to get in Aric’s world.

I wonder where he could have picked up this little shoe fetish? ::Walks away, whistling innocently::

Scooby Doo – Where are you?

I’m a little disappointed tonight… a coworker friend of mine hooked me up with an ex-coworker friend of hers who happens to live in my neighborhood and have boys around the same ages as mine. The coworker, her friend and her two boys were supposed to come over tonight so my boys could meet her boys. Well, my coworker showed up, but her friend didn’t! Weird, huh? I hope nothing happened and she just flaked out… but I was really hoping my boys could meet some friends from the neighborhood and I know my boys were looking forward to it, too. Hopefully we’ll still make it happen another night.

One down, two to go

Well, the firing of the employee is over. Whew!! It didn’t go as quickly as I would have liked, so it definitely wasn’t painless. It sucked, actually. But, I guess that is the norm. I’m just glad it’s over.

Now the hunt for a new employee begins. I think I’m dreading the interview process all over again more than anything. Now THAT is painful!
