Tomorrow I Hear Again

Tuesday, October 31st, 2006

So the final update on the hearing aid situation is this – the insurance company did NOT cover them. Bummer, huh? Sucks, because I went ahead and orderd the top of the line to the tune of $5200 for the pair. Yikes! Financing, here we come. I don’t regret it though because I do need new hearing aids and I do want the best – I mean, it’s my hearing – that’s pretty important. Just sucks that home owners or health insurance won’t cover a penny of them.

These hearing aids are going to be over the ear as opposed to the in the ear kind I’ve been wearing for the past 15 years, so that will be an adjustment. From what I’ve heard from others, just getting new aids are a big adjustment, too. They all function differently and these are so high tech that there is a recorder in there to tell the doctor what types of noise I have going around me so he can program them accordingly. I imagine there will be an adjustment period where I have to go back and forth to his office to get them just right. I’m not actually looking forward to that so much. But I am looking forward to being able to hear better! It’s been hard this past week having only one aid.

Oh! I just thought of something else – I wonder if the new aids will take a different type of battery. That will suck because I ordered my batteries in bulk from eBay and I’ve got a lot left.

Those Pesky Ants

Tuesday, October 31st, 2006

I’m at home right now – waiting for the exterminator to show his face again. I’m losing track of how many times we’ve had to call these guys back out here for the stupid ants. Why aren’t they going away?? Very frustrating. And very gross. I feel like we need to just coat every square inch of our property with insect dust for a week straight. Think that would be healthy? Ha! Here’s hoping today is the magic visit and we don’t see these suckers any more.

Halloween – Boo.

Tuesday, October 31st, 2006

I’m a Halloween Scrooge this year. I don’t know what it is, but I just haven’t been able to get into the spirit of the holiday! We usually like to decorate the house, carve the pumpkins and on October 31st, I wake up with a sense of excitement. I love getting dressed up and going out with the kids trick or treating – it’s usually a lot of fun for our whole family. This year? I forgot it was even Halloween until I was up for a bit. I have no plans or desires to dress up tonight to go out with the kids. We didn’t decorate our house at all – didn’t even buy pumpkins! We should be all pumped up for this now, especially since we’re in our new house! The only scary thing about this Halloween is my total lack of excitement about it. Boo.

Call-in-Sick.com

Monday, October 30th, 2006

Freakgirl apparently posted about this a while ago, but I’m just now getting wind of it: Call-in-Sick.com. This is friggin hilarious and quite ingenius, too. The site lets you record your sick message at any time and schedules it to send whenever you want. So now if you know you’re sick the night before but don’t want to get up in the morning to leave the voice mail, you can use this service. Too funny. Hmm. Sure hope my employees don’t get any ideas. ;-)

Piperlime

Monday, October 30th, 2006

I think I just died and went to heaven. Old Navy sent me an email last night announcing the latest member of the Gap family: Piperlime.com – an online shoe shop carrying hundreds of brands! Eeeeeeee!!!! And they’ve got my size! And I can use my Old Navy/Gap/Banana Republic credit card! I’m in so much trouble. ;-) I think I’m gonna need a bigger shoe closet.
