Washing Brushes

Sunday, October 29th, 2006

After Aric had his little makeup incident, I had to wash my makeup brushes because he mixed everything up. I thought it would be a good thing since I hadn’t washed my brushes since I can’t remember (shh!). However, ever since, my makeup has been going on splotchy. I can’t get it to go on evenly and it’s really starting to piss me off. It’s as if I need tons of old, caked-up makeup on those brushes for them to work. Sounds nastier than it actually was, I promise. Has anyone else ever experienced this when washing their makeup brushes?

I read a post over at Statia’s today about some drama or other in the blogosphere where a site has been created to make fun of popular bloggers which has Photoshopped pictures of the popular bloggers’ kids on it. I haven’t seen the offending site and I’m getting that info straight from Statia’s blog, so I can’t talk with much authority about the incident in particular. However, I did find it interesting to learn that some people have taken a stance insisting there will never be photos of their children available through their blogs – not necessarily as a result of this incident, but that’s just their personal choice.

Now, I haven’t been targeted – no one has ever manipulated photos of my kids in any way in the 10 years I’ve been sharing them online – perhaps I would feel differently if that weren’t true. I don’t know, I suspect it wouldn’t make me change my position – which is that I couldn’t care less if people were doing as they pleased with pictures of me or my family. I probably wouldn’t particularly like it, but I don’t know that it would make me want to stop sharing my photos with my blog readers or elsewhere online, either. I just don’t see how it can have any lasting affects on us. I mean – it’s all virtual… for all you know, every photo I share on here is Photoshopped.

I still think it’s messed up that people would take the time to set up a site and then get photos of bloggers’ kids to manipulate and post. If you’ve got a problem with someone online and truly can’t resist the urge to do something juvenile like that, at least pick on the person you’ve got a problem with, not their kids. That’s just wrong. But if you do happen to pick on me and use my kids’ photos to spew your venom, you’re not going to intimidate me into changing my ways.

I’m curious – what is your take on this? Where do you stand?

What the hell has happened to the Eagles this season?? The entire first quarter was like watching a bunch of amateurs. The 2nd quarter hasn’t been much better. Last week was a joke, and a shocking disappointment at the end with that field goal by the Saints. I love my boys, but it sure is hard to support them when they play like this. And as I write this, Jacksonville scores a touch down – it was called back thankfully, but still. Grrrrrrr…

My sister came home earlier than I thought she was going to! For some reason I thought she wasn’t coming here until Monday to pick the dog up, but she just left with him!!! WOO!!!!

As they were walking out to the car, Connor and I were in the kitchen and Connor did a countdown then we both did a little celebration dance ala Chilltown:

Ding dong, the dog is gone!!!

I know it ain’t right, but this made me laugh my ass off. Southpark mocks Steve Irwin on its latest episode. I’ve never really watched Southpark – it just seemed too juvenile for my tastes, but I have a warped sense of humor – maybe I would like it?
