Jokes on Me

Friday, October 27th, 2006

The dog, aka DestructoPup, got a hold of one of the kids’ little hacky sack balls and tore it to shreds. I had hard little beanies all over the place this morning. What a mess. So, I got the vacuum out to clean up the mess and DestructoPup started freaking out. I learned earlier in the week that he was afraid of the vacuum cleaner – he starts whimpering and whining and frantically running around. Today I was taking a delicious, sadistic pleasure in the fact that he was scared out of his wits while I cleaned up his mess. I even thought of taunting him… heh, yeah, I’m 12 years old.

So while I’m happily sweeping away in the laundry room, kitchen and family room, I turn to enter the dining room and make my way down to the bedrooms since the floor in my room had it the worst. As I turned, though, I caught the whiff of something awful and looking up I saw the joke was on me. DestructoPup had laid a nice, big, steaming pile of doo on the living room floor for me. Apparently he got so scared he literally shit himself. Lovely.

Three more days.

So Long, Andy

Thursday, October 26th, 2006

Rob sent me the news last night that Andy Taylor has left Duran Duran again. I’m not sure what this means for the band, but it makes me sad. I loved seeing all the original members on the Astronaut tour last year. Bummer, dude. Hopefully this time there won’t be lawsuits flying back and forth over the whole thing like there were in the 80′s.

Anniversary

Thursday, October 26th, 2006

Rob and I will be celebrating our 14th wedding anniversary in a couple weeks. That blows my mind… I’m still trying to figure out where, exactly, all those years went.

We’ve been trying to decide where to go/what to do and we haven’t been able to make a decision. If you had about $500 to spend, lived on the east coast and wanted to get away with your honey – where would you go? Lay your ideas on me, people.

Vicks Vaporub

Thursday, October 26th, 2006

So I went to the nail salon the other day to have my guy look at my nail and put some stuff on it. He buffed it out and said that it is “just a stain” now. However, when I asked him if there was something I could put on it, he told me either Vicks Vaporub or Tea Tree Oil because they both have anti-fungal properties. Hmmm. If it’s “just a stain” then why would I need to treat it with an anti-fungal product? Ugh.

Now I’m wondering if I should find a new salon. I really like the people where I go, for the most part, but there are some things that bother me about it. For one, the two owners are a married couple and they do nails just like all the other workers. I have no qualms with that… but the thing is, they also accept tips. I thought the shop owners weren’t supposed to take tips? So that is weird. My guy is one of the owners and he’s likeable enough and does a good job on my nail, well up until recently when they all started lifting. But he’s also kind of a shyster – I get the feeling he is always wheeling and dealing and he frequently takes phone calls while he’s doing my nails which is very annoying.

The other thing I like about the salon is there is a girl there who does my eyebrows better than anyone ever has and I’d hate to lose her. I guess I could go elsewhere to get my nails done and just return to the old place for my eyebrows, but it would be inconvenient to have to go to two places, plus I’d feel like a traitor. Ha!

Decisions, decisions.

Come As You Are

Wednesday, October 25th, 2006

Lynn started a great meme today and I’ve been tagged by Julie to do it. Basically what you do is take a picture or two of how you are right now – right this very minute, no primping! – post it and then give a quick little bio about you and/or what’s going on with you today.

So here I am, where I am most nights – hanging out on my couch, kicked back with my laptop in its proper position. Like my socks? This is what I wore to work today. Unlike some other lucky people, I don’t work from home and have to go into an actual office every day. At least I get to dress casual.

I had Aric (my 10 year old) take these pictures and we had a fun little photo shoot, he made me giggle.
