Great News!!!

Wednesday, October 25th, 2006

My hearing aid replacements are covered by my homeowner’s insurance! Yes! Yes! Yes!

A big thank you to Darla for being the first to suggest I try them. I would have never thought of that myself and would have probably discounted the same advice given to me by a co-worker if you hadn’t already suggested it. My friends rule.

I feel so much better about this whole thing now. Happy Day!

And I’m off… wish me luck!

Lash Exact Mascara

Wednesday, October 25th, 2006

Marcy posted about Lash Exact mascara the other day and even though I already have two favorites: Lancome’s Definicils and Maybelline’s Great Lash, I went out and bought some. A girl can never have too many good mascaras in her repertoire if you ask me. And the verdict is… I freaking love this stuff! I might even like it better than the Definicils, which is amazing, because that has been my decadent, indulgent mascara of choice for years. I’d use the Great Lash a lot just because it was more economical and it worked great, but whenever I had extra cash, I’d splurge on the Lancome. And now… I can have the best mascara at the drugstore cost! Gotta love that!

And you also gotta love Marcy’s blog. She writes up some great reviews on the latest and greatest products. She’s got another review on there for a makeup primer that I just have to go get today. Marcy is Fantabulous, as her blog name suggests, but she is not doing any favors to my wallet! ;-)

HoH – A Teaser

Wednesday, October 25th, 2006

I’m nervous today – I go to the hearing aid place to (hopefully) get fitted for a mold to get new aids. Even though the dog only chewed up and broke the one, it really was time for new aids, so I am going to get two new ones. I’d also like to see if they can fix the broken one by giving me a new mold for it – even though it’s in pieces, if you hold it in your hand tightly together, it beeps – so the mechanics are still working. It would be great to have backup aids in case anything ever happens again. It is so hard to be without one aid and being without two is just unfathomable – I’d have a hard time functioning, especially at work, if I had to go without both for long. I have about a 60-70% hearing loss in both ears, so it’s a pretty significant hearing problem. With aids, though, I can hear a lot better – definitely not at 100%, more like hearing at 75-80%, but I’ll take it.

Liz asked me to write more on my experiences being a Hard of Hearing person and I think I’m going to do that… but not this morning, I need to get ready for my day. I will definitely write about it later, though. Something for you to look forward to! ;-)

That Smell

Tuesday, October 24th, 2006

And another thing about this dog – he stinks! He has a distinctive dog scent attached to him that has just permeated the entire house. Aric even said that the kids at school told him he smells like wet dog. Ugh!! I know I keep going on and on about this animal, but it is hard to convey just how much this thing has disrupted our lives. I’m actually in a bit of disbelief over it all – I mean it’s only a puppy dog, right? We can handle this! But… I am SO looking forward to the day this fellow heads on home and I can hear the tales of destruction instead of being the storyteller.

Dancing with the Stars

Tuesday, October 24th, 2006

I’m trying to figure out why this show is 90 minutes long and there are only 4 couples left. There sure isn’t a heck of a lot of actual dancing going on here! Very annoying. Thank God for DVR technology. I’m not really even too into this show, but I am keeping up with who gets eliminated each week. Right now I’m a fan of either Joey Lawrence or Mario Lopez, I guess. Neither one has grabbed me the way other personalities on other reality shows have. If there were better shows on Tuesday nights, I probably wouldn’t watch it at all. It sucks because Tuesdays are my night in, so it would be great if some good shows were on then. Either that or I need to get a life. One or the other. ;-)
