The Late 80’s Called
Filed Under (Flippin' Sweet, Tunes) by Amy on 01-26-2007
Rob and I are going out on a date tonight. Since we have Grace, it probably won’t be much more than dinner, but that’s okay. The kids are sleeping over my parents’ and we get the house all to ourselves. Weeeeeee! If it wasn’t 12 degrees, we might run around naked. Okay, maybe we wouldn’t do that even in the summer. But you never know - that possibility always exists.
I got this idea the other night when I was driving and I heard the song Cherry Bomb by John Mellencamp. Is it John Cougar Mellencamp or just plain Mellencamp for that song? Who knows? Why did he do that with his name, anyway? So annoying. Anyway, I heard that song and it immediately took me back to the time when Rob and I first started dating. It was then when the brainstorm hit me: I’d make a mix CD of all the songs we listened to or that were popular at that time and we’d listen to it in the car on our date. How sweet is that?
So today I’ve been feeling very nostalgic as I’ve been gathering music for my CD. I just burned it, too. Want to know what’s on it? You can’t laugh at some of these songs - we had no control over what the radio was playing! Okay, you can laugh. I’m sure we’ll laugh when we hear some of these come on. I hope Rob likes my idea and the songs I picked. Here’s the tracklist - I’ll add MP3s to it on request. :-) Anyone want to guess the time frame when we dated? It should be pretty easy with the songs listed below, although not all of these songs fit the same period for various reasons.

That’s a great list! I still like a bunch of those songs too lol
Great list, and have a blast!
I STILL listen to the George Michael - Faith album - love it!
That is a great mix of music! I want a copy of it!
I have several playlists on my ipod of just 80’s music. Duran Duran was my absolute favorite in high school. There are lot of them on your list that I forgot about…itunes here I come!
Since i can’t say anything on those musics (i am just 21! almost 21!), i’d better to talk about the idea! That’s simply so sweet! I think that made Rob surprised and happy of course!
Great cd! I totally love 80’s music!!!
Ack! You’re my son’s age! Great play list, though!
Great list! Not my era, but Faith is still one of my favorite songs!
My new car has satellite radio, and there are several all 80s stations– you’d be in heaven!
La Vie de Laurie
Laurigami
Good list! I was more into women with angst in the 80s. The Motels, Pat Benatar, Stevie Nicks …
You make me feel old. I know most of those songs. :)
That was sweet… I gather you are a sentimental and nostalgic person :)
