I saw U2 mentioned several times in the news today – always makes my heart smile to see that. Love my boys! The first article, U2-charist, tells how some churches in England are replacing their hymns with U2 songs. This is a neat idea, but I’m surprised to hear they’re singing songs like “Beautiful Day” and “Mysterious Ways” instead of the ones more God-centric like “Yahweh” or “If God Will Send His Angels”. Who knows, maybe they get those songs in there, too. Then again, so many of U2′s songs have Biblical references in them, they almost all qualify to be sung in church.
The second piece was a link on MetaFilter linking to U2′s Window in the Skies video on YouTube. I hadn’t seen the video yet, and apparently it’s drawing some controversy because of the compilation of people they’re using in it. You can read more on the MetaFilter thread if you’re interested. Me? I think people are a bunch of whiners, looking for things to be argumentative and critical about.
I did find out an interesting tidbit on that thread, though. Coldplay has hired Brian Eno to produce their next album, the band’s fourth. Man, they really do want to be U2, don’t they? Scary.
