U2 News

Filed Under (Forever Young, Tunes) by Amy on 29-01-2007

I saw U2 mentioned several times in the news today - always makes my heart smile to see that. Love my boys! The first article, U2-charist, tells how some churches in England are replacing their hymns with U2 songs. This is a neat idea, but I’m surprised to hear they’re singing songs like “Beautiful Day” and “Mysterious Ways” instead of the ones more God-centric like “Yahweh” or “If God Will Send His Angels”. Who knows, maybe they get those songs in there, too. Then again, so many of U2’s songs have Biblical references in them, they almost all qualify to be sung in church.

The second piece was a link on MetaFilter linking to U2’s Window in the Skies video on YouTube. I hadn’t seen the video yet, and apparently it’s drawing some controversy because of the compilation of people they’re using in it. You can read more on the MetaFilter thread if you’re interested. Me? I think people are a bunch of whiners, looking for things to be argumentative and critical about.

I did find out an interesting tidbit on that thread, though. Coldplay has hired Brian Eno to produce their next album, the band’s fourth. Man, they really do want to be U2, don’t they? Scary.

Wegmans = Teh Cool

Filed Under (Mundane) by Amy on 29-01-2007

I got a chuckle out of an item in my local paper this morning. It seems the teens in this area are hanging out at Wegmans these days. I personally think that’s awesome. It sounds like they are a good group of kids from the article. And I love the teenage-ese they speak in: “You can come here and find, like, anyone pretty much, because everyone, like, either works here or is here.” Like, totally!

Isn’t it great that the slang created in my generation of the Valley Girls is still alive and kicking today? I think that’s like, totally, cool, like, ya know?

DeLush Interviews Annet King

Filed Under (Chapstick) by Amy on 28-01-2007

I was really impressed to see the interview with Annet King on DeLush’s site a couple weeks ago. Annet is the Director of Training and Development for Dermalogica, a high end skin care system researched and developed by The International Dermal Institute. I love what Annet has to say about skincare and how she likes to keep things simple. If you’re into skincare or beauty at all, you’ll love this article.

It’s Like A Whole New Dog

Filed Under (Grace, Mundane, The Fam) by Amy on 28-01-2007

Yesterday we spent a lot of time at my mom’s house. Good times. We brought Grace with us, of course, and my sister brought her two dogs, too. Her older dog, Czar, is a 7 year old (I think!) Rottweiler and her puppy, Scrappy, is a 10 month old Cane Corso Mastiff. Big dogs. Scrappy is the dog that chewed my hearing aids, but I’ve forgiven him for that. I’m a sucker for the puppy dogs, what can I say?

So Grace had the time of her freaking life yesterday. She and Scrappy went at it for hours and hours. It was so much fun to watch, they kept us quite entertained! It was just unbelievable how much they loved each other. We took a couple of pictures so you can see them, of course.

Look at that smile:

Awww, all snuggled up!

Go get him, Grace!

You can also see in those pics how big Grace is getting, huh?

So Grace has been like a new dog today. She’s been extremely mellow and relaxed, taking a lot of naps. I bet her muscles are worn out from all the playing she did yesterday! It’s been kind of nice, actually, I think we need to schedule a weekly play date with Scrappy. I need to ask my sister if Scrappy is tired out today, too. I bet he is!

My Fine is $860710

Filed Under (MeMeMeMe!) by Amy on 28-01-2007

Here’s something a little racy.

Here’s how it works: You don’t have to confess your answers, just the amount of your fine. (Not per incident!) Tally up your score and post it on your blog with the title… ”My Fine Is…”

I love how they give “peed in the pool” $.50 so it’s easy to see who did that one. I left it out on principle. Heh. Also, the first time I tallied my score, I was apparently smoking crack because I got $860. I’ve since checked and re-checked and my fine is actually *only* $710. Whew.
