Playing Possum

Sunday, January 28th, 2007

We had quite the scare at my mom’s house last night! When Rob let the dogs out back to potty, they were all walking near the fence when the motion detector light went on and Rob saw this possum RIGHT on top of Gracie’s head. Look how big this thing is!

possum

I couldn’t believe it was just hanging out, literally, on my parents’ fence. I’ve never seen anything like that before. We were all pretty freaked out because Grace isn’t done her series of rabies shots yet – and we all know what happened to the other pups we were going to get. I think we are scarred from that experience and probably always will be.

The possum didn’t get to the dogs, thankfully, but he did meet an untimely death at the hands of a pellet gun shortly after this picture was taken. Grisly. Wish I never saw that happen. :-(

Little Miss Sunshine

Have you seen this movie yet? What a riot. Rob and I watched it tonight and we really enjoyed it. It was different, that is for sure! Steve Carell really impresses me in all the roles he’s been in that I’ve seen thus far. The actor who played the teenage son, Paul Dano, reminds me of a young John Cusack for some reason.

Lovin’ for the Chicken Coop

Let me tell you about my friend, Ang.. She’s one of the sweetest people I’ve met in recent years. I appreciate her kind, gentle and spiritual nature and her open devotion to God. I think you’ll like her, too, so why don’t you stop by and give her blog a little lovin’. Make sure when you do that you spell her name with the period at the end. She likes that. :-)

Arctic Blast

So today’s high temperature was a whopping 23F!! I do NOT like it. Not even one little bit. I’m all decked out in layers, though! I’ve had my running pants on under my jeans all day and I wore three layers on top. And I work in an office! Heh. I can’t imagine what I’d have to put on to work outside. I’m sure I’d look like Ralphie in A Christmas Story, though.

There is some construction going on on my street because Verizon is putting FiOS in (woot!) and I feel for those workers out there digging holes and stuff in this weather. When I was home for lunch letting Grace outside to potty, one of the workers went to their trailer and then came out with a Boxer puppy. Oh my gosh, he was so cute! Grace just loved him up. I think she was a little too overwhelming for him, too. She has no social graces yet – ironic considering her name. We’ve got to get her a bit more socialized, I guess. Turns out this Boxer is 4 months old and Grace had quite a bit of size on him. All signs are definitely pointing to Grace being a big girl when she’s grown.
