Westminster Dog Show

I have never in my life been interested in watching any of the hoity-toity dog shows until we got Grace. Suddenly, I’m interested in all things dog, I don’t care what it is! I watched the last day of the Westminster Dog Show last night and it was actually pretty interesting. I have no idea what the judges are looking for when they’re looking at these dogs, though, but I was happy with the best in show winner, an English Springer Spaniel. He is such a pretty dog.
Oh, here’s something I was wondering the whole time I was watching – why do all of the dogs’ names start with “Ch.”? What does it stand for? What does it mean? Does Grace need a Ch.? Ha!
Oh…..you are a rookie!!!! ROFL
Ch. means Champion, having to do with their lineage.
And dogs do not compete against one another. They compete with the standard of their breed. Winners of any part…..breed, group or finals, win because they best match the standard stated for their breed by the AKC.
That concludes Dogshow 101.
You are dismissed!!!!
How big is Grace now? I just weighed Isis today and she is 44.6 lbs! O.M.G! 44 lbs at 16 weeks?? Is that even legal?? The poor girl is starving too (she is up to 8-10 cups a day), and you can see all her bones. I think it is time for a Gracie update! ;)
The boys love to watch the dog shows on animal planet, and then they give Penny commands. She actually knows some of them, so it’s funny. Our own little dog show.
Darla explained it…i was going to tell you that as well! :)
I’ve been a dog fanatic since birth!
