Whatever I Feel Like

I’ve been wanting to buy a new washing machine for a while now. The one we have belonged to the previous owners, which I don’t have a problem with, but it’s outlived its usefulness. It’s had a problem staying balanced since we’ve been here and one of the legs broke off about a month ago. Every time we do a wash, the machine ends up half-way across the room and wakes up the neighbors because it’s so loud.

This morning, I sat down at the computer, determined to finish my research for a new washer. I signed up for an account on Consumer Reports online and went to work, researching there and other sites across the web. After some time, I came up with the best value for our money. I wanted a front loader because of their energy efficiency and lower noise qualities, but I didn’t like the price tag on most of the ones I found at first. The Consumer Reports website has some great filtering features, though, and I was soon able to find the washer for us! I picked the Frigidaire LTF2940ES. I knew it was the right one when I signed onto Lowes.com and it reduced the price by more than $100.

I went through the ordering process, as usual, and in a momentary lapse of reason, selected “in-store pickup” because I want my washer right this minute. It wasn’t until a few minutes later, while talking to Darla on ICQ that I realized my plan wasn’t so brilliant. She said there was no way a washer was going to fit into our car. D’oh! Luckily, Mike told her that Lowe’s has a truck you can rent so we should be able to bring home the washer with that today. Hopefully that will work out, because I have about had it with the old washer. I don’t want to do even one more load in it!

Rob was thrilled when I told him all of this. Heh. Hopefully it won’t be too big of a deal getting the washer on and off the truck and into our house. Fun times! Don’t you wish you were married to me??
