Me & Grace

Grace has had a rough week, behavior-wise. Her puppy-ness is really rearing its head. I know it’s normal. She is, after all, only 4 months old. She was just so good for so long, that I think it’s taken us by surprise. We have to make sure the whole house is entirely puppy-proof and even still, we need to keep an eye on her or know where she is pretty much at all times. It’s draining. What’s even more frustrating is the lack of help from Connor and Aric.
I’ve noticed that her antics have really started wearing on everyone in the house’s nerves and I’m starting to feel sorry for her now. I know a lot of the problem can be alleviated if my attitude and expectations change. My efforts at patience and tolerance need to be re-doubled, that’s all. And I’ve decided to shower her with lots of extra love and attention in hopes that her behaviors will correct themselves. There’s nothing a little love, patience and tolerance can’t fix, right?
Here’s me and my Gracie-girl this morning, after a morning love session. And when I say love, I don’t mean ~love~, you sickos!

Can I just say how cute that picture is?! I love it, and think it’s great that it’s now your avatar on the boards!! -J.E.
Great pic! :) My parents have a chocolate lab - he was quite a punk at that age and continued to be until around 2 years old. They are in puppy mode for such a long time.
Hey Amy!
We have a one year old yellow lab - love him to death - but he is a handful. Erica is right, we’ve been told it can take up to 2 years for them to calm down. If we’re not watching, he gets into everything. Leave him alone??? Never. What helps here is a nice long walk every night after supper. Poops him out and he’s pretty mellow.
I’m definitely loving the longer hair on you!! I hope the puppy stage goes quickly. It is draining, that’s for sure!
I could take your entire second paragraph and apply it to my life at the moment, with the little girls. Seriously, every bit of it is true!
And you are GORGEOUS in that picture. Glad to see the full sized version here! I thought it was so cute on the boards!
My kittens go through the same sort of phases… they’ll act like mature, grown up cats, and then suddenly they’re back to the kitten-like destructive behavior. I keep reminding myself that one day they’ll be old and boring, and I’ll miss this LOL
I love this picture of you two, also! So cute!
It looks like an advertisement in a magazine. You are so photogenic…absolutely adore this picture of you with Grace.
