Glamour Shots

On Friday, Rob and I went to get our drivers licenses renewed. Actually, Rob got his renewed, and I just had a replacement issued since I lost mine. When we moved last year, I put in a change of address online and received a paper version of my license. Then some time over the past year, I lost my photo license with our old address on it. So, I just wanted to get my license with my picture and current address on it. Since I was going to have my picture taken, I spent time doing my hair and makeup despite the fact we had a major winter storm going on. Have to look good in my drivers license photo, you know!

We get to the DMV and spent a few minutes trying to figure out which button to push to get our number to be served. Why do they make this stuff so complicated? They speak their own little language there, and I definitely am not fluent in it! Anyway, we get served right away, since no one else was out in that weather and we notice we’ll need a check or money order to pay for our licenses. I open my wallet to get my checkbook and discover that it’s not there. Rob had used it earlier in the week and didn’t return it. Grrr. Since he had more paperwork to fill out, I ran to the grocery store to buy money orders, all the while worried about what this was doing to my hair for the picture. I get back, run my hands through my hair, looking around for a mirror, when the guy tells me that I’m not getting my picture taken – they’re going to use my old picture that they have on file to print a new license with my new address. Ha!

So now I have another year before I have to get all dolled up again for my drivers license photo. Remind me to tell you the story from a few years back when the lady at the DMV yelled at me, for all to hear, “It’s not a glamour photo, Amy!” Good times. Vain much?

ROFL! I KWYM though, I actually “lost” my DL on purpose just because I didn’t like the picture. That was back before they kept a digital copy, so I got a re-take.
