I’ve had such a nice, relaxing weekend. It was just what the doctor ordered. On Friday night, my sister, her husband and his son took my boys to Nifty Fifties for dinner then met my parents at Dave & Busters. The kids slept over my parents’ house and Rob and I went to see Wild Hogs. We apparently were among the masses who went to see it – did you see how well it did at the box office? We loved this movie! I was disappointed to read the rotten reviews. Rob and I both thought the entire cast did a great job – we were entertained from beginning to end.
Saturday we spent a lot of time just chilling out and enjoying each others’ company. We took Grace to Pet Smart – that was our big adventure. Rob left in the afternoon to take his dad out for his birthday, so I was on my own for a few hours. I took the opportunity to read a bit and take a nap. Bliss. After I woke up, I made myself dinner, took my time enjoying it and then headed to my brother’s house. My parents and the kids were there babysitting my brother’s kids. I spent a short amount of time there, then the boys and I headed home.
I didn’t do a whole lot earlier in the day, but I managed to squeeze a nap in. This afternoon, I decided to head to the mall to redeem some gift certificates that had been accumulating since Christmas. I scored some great deals!! Check out my loot.
First I stopped at Macy’s. I had a $10 coupon in addition to $30 in reward cash. I got a pair of black yoga pants and 3 tops for $6! Sweet. When I checked out my receipt, I noticed one of my shirts was on clearance for a penny. Can’t beat that.
I had a Victoria’s Secret gift card for $25, so I headed there next. I checked out the Pink collection, but they didn’t have what I needed. I only like microfiber thongs. The Body By Victoria collection did have the thongs, so I got 3 really cute ones for $30, but with my gift card, I only spent $5.
Next, I went to Bath and Bodyworks where I picked up some anti-bacterial hand lotion in travel sizes for my purse I also purchased some Wallflower refills in Brown Sugar & Fig for the house and a new unit in Cotton Blossom for my office. Oh and I also got this manicure and pedicure kit! I spent $40 here.
I’d been at the mall for about two hours by this point, believe it or not, and I was parched so I used a coupon I had for a free drink. My plan was to leave the mall and go to Barnes & Noble to get some books with a gift card, but I saw Crabtree & Evelyn and decided to see if they had the wallet and/or makeup bag in Pink Elephants that I wanted. I set my coffee down on the counter and it promptly flipped off, upside down on the floor. Woops! Coffee splattered all over the place – all right next to the Vera Bradley bags. I felt so bad, but the saleslady was very nice about the whole thing, thankfully. And, they had the makeup bag! I spent less than $20 here.
Finally, I left the mall and ventured across the street to Barnes & Noble where I picked up two books by Sark and a couple of others on clearance. My Barnes & Noble membership had expired, so I renewed, spending a total of $40 since I had a gift card again.
It felt great to be out and about by myself for 3 hours. I really do enjoy my own company, I have to say. Everything seemed to flow so well, too. The stores that I needed to go into seemed to just appear right in front of me, everyone I encountered was friendly, it was just a nice, pleasant experience.
Once I got home, I ate dinner and dyed my hair. Pictures to come. Hope your weekend was just as splendid as mine!

I LOVE Bath and Body Works! It makes you feel good, and it’s a lot cheaper than therapy!
I love having a few hours to myself like that, just cruisin’ around, browsing in my favourite stores. Nothing beats it. Especially if you can fit in beauty products, scents, books and all that yummy stuff!
I desperately want to get out into town by myself for a few hours, but nobody trusts me because there is a liquor store in the area. ::sigh:: All I really want to do is browse the FEW shops we have, one of which is holding my crocodile laptop bag (meowrrr!) and a second-hand clothing store I want to check out…
