New Hair Color

Filed Under (Chapstick) by Amy on 21-08-2007

I’m going to get my hair colored at the salon on Thursday. I’m having my neighbor do it - the one who fixed my hair last time I had the huge hair coloring fiasco of 2007. Did you see Jen on Big Brother last night? See how unnaturally dark her hair looked? That’s what I looked like before my neighbor fixed my hair.

So when she fixed it, she made it a bit lighter than I normally went, and I kind of liked it. Now I can’t decide if I should go with that same color or go back to the darker color for fall. Or maybe even something with a bit of red in it? Decisions, decisions.

Here is my color now:

Middle Name Meme

Filed Under (MeMeMeMe!) by Amy on 21-08-2007

I saw this over at Skeet’s and thought it would be fun. I’m a glutton for punishment, though, since I’ve got a long middle name with a “z” in it.

Here we go.

The Rules:

1. You have to post these rules before you give the facts.

2. Players, you must list one fact that is somehow relevant to your life for each letter of your middle name. If you don’t have a middle name, use the middle name you would have liked to have had.

3. When you are tagged you need to write your own blog post containing your own middle name game facts.

4. At the end of your blog post, you need to choose one person for each letter of your middle name to tag. Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.

Did you guess my middle name? It’s Elizabeth, in case you didn’t.

E - My mom’s maiden name starts with E. Her middle name is also Elizabeth (as was her mother’s).

L - My last name starts with L.

I - Ice cream used to be one of my biggest binge foods.

Z - Zoos are not my favorite place to visit.

A - Aric is the name of my second born son.

B - Booze proved to be a problem for me, like most other addictive substances.

E - Eating is something I do 4x a time. No more, no less.

T - Tall - that’s me. I’m 5′11″.

H - Happy! I like to choose happiness over all the other negatives. It really is a choice.

I’m supposed to tag people now, but I’m too lazy for all of that. Play along if you want to!

Is it Tuesday Yet?

I went home around lunch time today and got some sleep which helped with my physical condition. Then I got some news about work stuff that has really affected my emotional state. It’s been a rough day. At least it’s almost over.

I did some research about the poison stuff - I’m pretty sure it’s poison ivy. When I saw pictures of it, I recognized it immediately as stuff that is all over my back yard. Ugh! In fact, I took down a huge climbing branch of it a couple of weekends ago! I’m betting that is where Rob got the poison ivy he had a couple weeks ago. I’m not sure exactly where I got this from - it’s only from my knees down, so I obviously walked in it when I had on shorts and sandals. So far it’s not too itchy and I’m applying the clear anti-itch lotion at regular intervals.

My eye swelling went down, too. I can put away the concealer tomorrow, at least.

I took Grace to PetSmart tonight on a whim. I bought her the Everlasting Treat Toy and boy is it a hit! She hasn’t left this thing alone for the past 3 hours. We ran into another Chocolate Lab puppy there - she was 2 months younger than Grace and about half her size! She was also a lot lighter than Grace - the color I wanted Grace to be. When I was at the checkstand, the cashier asked me if I knew about their training classes for dogs pulling on the leash. HA! I think I need to take her up on her offer - my shoulder can’t take her pulling.

And now Aric and I are watching Cannonball Run II. He knows Burt Reynolds from Smokey and the Bandit, and when he first saw Burt make an appearance in this movie, looking much worse for the wear, he said, “Whoa! What happened to him?” Poor Burt - can’t even catch a break from a 10 year old. After seeing him in a pink Member’s Only jacket, though, he deserves the disdain. I mean, really.

It’s Definitely Monday

I need to wear a sign today: Warning, I am one miserable bitch.

Yesterday I woke up with swelling underneath my left eye. I wasn’t sure what it was from, but after Googling, I figured it was related to either allergies or getting my period. It was Sunday, so I wasn’t too concerned about it, thinking it would go away in a day.

Wrong! I woke up this morning and it is more swollen than it was yesterday. Fantastic!

Then in the shower, as I was shaving my legs, I thought I had a lot of mosquito bites on my leg for someone who wore pants and sprayed bug spray all over herself Saturday night. Once I got out of the shower I realized they weren’t mosquito bites after all; nope, I have some form of poison ivy/sumac/oak on my legs! Rob just got over a nasty infection on his arms, so we obviously have this in our yard somewhere, but we don’t know where. I’ll be arming myself with pictures of the various plants, long-sleeved pants and shirt and going on a little chopping adventure as soon as it stops raining.

To complete the trifecta, I’ve also got the worst cramps ever since it’s that wonderful time of the month. Yay!

On second thought, I might not need a sign, I’m fairly certain one look at my face will tell people all they need to know today.

Deadline

Filed Under (Grace, Mundane) by Amy on 17-08-2007

I’ve got a big deadline at work and I’ve just been slaving my days away this week to meet it. Just in case you were wondering why I’ve been so quiet the past couple of days. It’s sapped all my energy and I haven’t had any left over for blogging. Imagine that!

But it’s Friday night and I’m off for 2 days! We’re having Connor’s birthday party this weekend. It will be real low key; he’s having about 10 friends over and I guess they’re just going to hang out. It’s kind of nice now that they’re getting older and we don’t have to take them to a themed party thing - that gets expensive real quick!

Check out this picture of Grace I took last night. She is so goofy. She got into the trash can and took a straw out - she looked so funny with it that I had to snap a picture before I took it away from her.

And then look what Colleen did to my baby!!!! Haha.

I’m off to finish dinner and then watch some Eagles football! Good times.
