I Need a New NFL Team

Sunday, September 30th, 2007

Okay, I’m thinking the Eagles are out this season – and I’m sure Andy Reid will be out along with them when it’s all said and done – so I need a new team to root for. Is it root or route in that sentence? I never have figured that one out.

Besides Tampa Bay, Dallas, and the Giants – which team should I adopt? I’m leaning towards my sister’s team, the Packers, right now. Or perhaps, I should start being a Redskins girl since we want to become Virginia residents. I need a team that’s doing better than the Eagles, though, and while the Redskins could fit that bill, it might not be by much.

If I wake up in the morning and the Eagles have somehow pulled a win out of their butts with this game, I reserve the right to retract this post. :-P

The Honor System

Pretty Gourds, originally uploaded by anaisamy.

Driving back to work after picking my car up from its servicing, I decided to stop at Starbucks. As I made the turn on the way there, I was greeted with this little area of a small farm set up with cornstalks, pumpkins and gourds. The best part was a sign that said “SELF SERVE. PAY IN BOX”. For some reason, I just had to stop there. I got three big, quality pumpkins, 10 gourds and 2 sets of 12 cornstalks for $30! Score!

Something about that little trip restored my faith in humanity – that this farm trusts people enough to pay for their goods on the honor system just warmed my heart. I made sure I paid in full and was merrily on my way.

Bonus: the car’s routine service check up was completely free! I’m not used to that. It truly is the little things, isn’t it?

The Waiting

… is the hardest part. Good song, true words.

I found out yesterday that we most likely won’t be able to do anything about our Virginia dream any time soon. It probably won’t be happening next summer like I was hoping. I’m bummed, but I’m not giving up hope. I am also turning it all over and knowing that whatever happens is meant to happen for my own good. I’m still going to do the footwork – the dream is not entirely dead – and we’ll see what happens.

In other news, the switch to marketing is kicking my butt time-wise. I’m still in that transitional phase where I’m doing a lot of the stuff I was doing before in addition to doing lots of new things. It’s all good, though – I love the days going by so fast and being involved more in the operations of the company. I’m just not used to this pace, which explains the drastic reduction of posting here.

I had such a searing migraine last night, I couldn’t even see straight. I could barely talk or even function, it was horrible! Thankfully I woke up this morning feeling much better, although now I have that migraine hangover feeling. I wish I knew what triggered these! It’s been a few months since I had one like that, so I know I am lucky as far as migraine sufferers go. I have a friend who gets migraines that last for days and weeks on end. I think I’d want to kill myself – seriously. How do people deal with that kind of non-stop pain? Very scary.

Office, originally uploaded by anaisamy.

Here it is! The new office. Well, part of it, anyway. You can see the whole thing on my Flickr Set.

Thankfully I got in early so no one saw me looking like a dork taking these pictures. I have to be cool now that I’m in Marketing – or something.
