I Miss My Pilot

Wednesday, October 17th, 2007

My car is in the shop getting all fixed up from the accident. Yay! I’m happy about this because it was so terribly hard to look at my beautiful baby every day all banged up to hell.

So what’s the problem? (You knew a problem was coming, didn’t you?)

It’s the rental car – a white 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. I used to think I wanted one of these. Maybe it’s the package this car has, but I *hate* it. I am missing my Honda Pilot something fierce right now. It handles better and feels better when I sit in the driver’s seat. Not to mention I am missing the leather, heated seats, GPS Navigation system, and mirror on the back so I can see when I back up in my navigation screen. Oh, and this rental car had less than 400 miles on it when I picked it up and smelled like a freakin’ ashtray. I had to go buy some of those scented cans to overpower the smoke smell. Gross.

However, there is one really great thing about the Jeep: it’s got Sirius Satellite Radio. Now I have XM in my car, which I just love, love, love… but XM does not have Howard Stern. I am been in Howard heaven the past few days! If I had Sirius in my car, I don’t think I’d ever hear a song again unless it was played on the Stern show. I can’t get enough, which is convenient since the show can be heard round the clock! This week was the first time I’d heard the show since they moved to satellite; it’s so weird to hear all the blatant cursing.

I’ll be glad to get my car back, but I sure am going to miss Howard!

I went to the GYN on Friday to find out why I’m having this breakthrough bleeding. He wasn’t able to tell me anything, unfortunately. So now I have to schedule an ultrasound and I’ll go back for a follow up appointment. Good times.

As I was waiting for the doctor to come in I wondered, as I often do, about the whole gynecological occupation. Seriously, I’ve got a lot of questions! Maybe a gynecologist will happen upon my blog on their Internet travels and answer some of these for me so I can sleep at night.

I’m curious if the doctors appreciate or care if their patients are, uh, well groomed. I mean, does it matter to them if we’re all trimmed and shaved down there if they are just going to be looking at the goods under the hood? What do they think about all the different grooming styles, anyway? Do they anticipate what we’ll look like once they lift up the sheet? How often are they surprised? Do they see women in the streets and think they have their girly parts pegged? Is being a gynecologist anything like being the person who knows how to fix cars or computers in a family? I mean, do their relatives call them up and say, “Hey, I’ve got this gnarly itch; can I bring my vagina over for you to take a look at it?” Do you treat your grandmother? That would just be wrong. Right?? I’m imagining a scary scene that begins with the words, “Whoa, grandma! A Braziliian???” And finally, do the GYNs realize that people like me are thinking about all of these questions as they’re down there enjoying the view?

Bangs!

I’m so grateful my hairdresser lives across the street. When I talked to her yesterday because she wanted to reschedule my hair appointment for tonight, I told her that my bangs were driving me nuts, so she said she would come over after work to cut my bangs. How nice is that? She angled them so one side is shorter than the other, since I always sweep them over to one side. The short side is a bit shorter than I’m used to, especially since my bangs were down below my nose before she cut them – but I think I’m loving it!

These pics were taken on my new cell phone earlier today.

Charlie Horse

Thursday, October 11th, 2007

I’ve been having Charlie Horses in my toes the past few days – and it occurs to me that I’m not drinking enough water. Being so busy all day long is rearing its ugly head. And what’s up with the term “Charlie Horse”? I need to go look that up to see where it’s derived. Unless one of you wants to tell me in the comments. Hint, hint.

Rough Night

Thursday, October 11th, 2007

I had a really rough night last night and I’m hoping I don’t repeat it tonight. Right before bed I started getting a headache, so I figured if I went to bed it would go away. Yeah, not so much.

The headache just got worse as the night wore on, turning into a full-blown migraine. It woke me up a few times until around 1:30, I had to get up to take medicine. I was also feeling extremely hot and suffocated, so I walked out on the back porch for a few minutes. I laid back down and about 15 minutes later, jumped out of bed and ran to the bathroom to throw up everything I ate for my snack earlier that night.

The headache did start to ease after I threw up, though, and I was able to get back to sleep until morning. The first half of my day felt a bit weird – I guess my body was just recovering from the night. Now, though, I feel pretty okay. I’ve been feeling nauseous off and on all day – I’m wondering if it has anything to do with the (suspected) fibroids. I go to the GYN tomorrow – I hope I get some answers.
