No Soup For You!
Wednesday, January 4th, 2006V-v–v-vibrance!
Wednesday, January 4th, 2006On New Year’s day, we were at my parents’ house because we had slept over there the night before. I took a shower there and it’s a miracle I came out of that with my life intact. Okay, maybe I’m a little dramatic. But, I was in the shower and realized I forgot to pack my razor, so I decided to use theirs. I’m shaving along when all of the sudden, BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ! That sucker started vibrating in my hand! I was totally unprepared for the vibrating razor and nearly jumped out of my skin. Luckily though I managed to not cut myself.
Once I got over the initial shock, I started getting into it – I figured out how to turn it on and off – at first I thought it was how hard you held the razor. Hee! Then I found the on/off button. Because I’m a genius like that.
When I got out of the shower, I had to go tell everyone that I was NOT expecting the razor to start vibrating while I was in the shower. My parents thought that was hysterical and my sister was horrified. Apparently she had never heard of the vibrating razors before and was all, “WHAT DO YOU HAVE A VIBRATING RAZOR FOR? AND WHY IS AMY USING IT?” Classic!!
Of course once I got over the trauma of using the razor, I immediately thought, “I must have one of my very own!”, and when we went home I just happened to be out at the store and picked one up. Of course – my parents had the manly version and I got myself the girly-girl one. The jury is still out on whether I like it better than the plain, old, non-vibrating Venus. If nothing else, the user experience is better with the Vibrance. Vibrating user experiences always win, right?
Keep Your Hands to Yourself
Tuesday, January 3rd, 2006Okay, so I recently read a little blurb poll in Reader’s Digest about the frequency which people wash their hands. I must be a dirty skank because I don’t wash my hands after hardly any of these items. So, I’m curious – am I a dirty skank? Or am I normal? Answer my poll (you can be honest, no one will know your answers!) so I can find out. This is all highly scientific, I’m sure.
New Year’s
Tuesday, January 3rd, 2006When 2005 was coming to a close, I realized I wanted to be able to see at a glance what I had done all year… but I had nothing of the sort since I blog so irregularlly. So I decided that is going to change this year. I’m committed to blogging at least a few times a week (hopefully every day) and I also want to get my own domain again and do things the way I used to. We’ll see if that last part happens – don’t hold your breath for it.
So the holidays were great in our neck of the woods. We spent a lot of time with family and everyone was appropriately spoiled, so it was all good.
Rob and I went to see Stomp on the 30th and it was incredible!!! We had no expectations going in, we weren’t sure what the show would be like… and I think that’s the way to go. I couldn’t believe how entertaining the whole thing was, especially since none of the performers said a word. Highly recommended! Not so recommended: seeing a show at the Merriam Theater in Philly. Holy smokes are those seats small! Our knees were up to our earlobes. Also, Rob had the pleasure of seeing two guys come out of one bathroom stall while he was waiting in line. Fun!
NYE was spent at my parents’ house with my siblings and their partners, my parents and friends of ours. We had a nice time and enjoyed the hell out of the hot tub. Well, my parents call it the spa, but whatever. Seeing Dick Clark made us all sad – I feel so bad for the guy! And I think the truth is, seeing him made all of us feel old – because if Dick is old and out of it, then we must be getting there, too. We did talk a bit about how time goes entirely too fast – it sucks!
Hope you all had a great holiday! Here’s to 2006.
Ring Out the Bells Again…
Tuesday, September 13th, 2005I have discovered that I like reading blogs a whole lot more than writing them. I just don’t think I’m as clever as a lot of the people I read and I’m lazy – I don’t feel like typing out all of my deep thoughts; I talk about the deep thoughts out loud with people these days it seems.
I’m also paranoid – you never know who is reading. It could be a relative or a co-worker or a boss, so I tend to watch what I say here, which is greatly inhibiting.
Anyway, not much is new here – I’m still in my pre post-summer blues phase. I get so sad when summer ends, I hate the cold weather so much. It sucks, too, that Rob absolutely loves the cold weather so we’re at direct odds with each other on this subject. I’d be happy moving south and he wants to go to Alaska. Ai yi yi. Guess that’s why we’re still in Pennsylvania, and probably will be for some time to come.
We went to visit my brother and his family over the weekend – we had the best time there! I got to sit and visit with Lauren (his wife) for a few hours and then we played with babies (okay, toddlers) and watched all the kids play – that would include my brother, my dad and Rob. Heh. Greg (my brother) got out the tractor, loaded my two boys and his oldest into the trailer and rode around his back yard knocking things over, driving into the swings, etc., to make them all laugh. Then for good measure, Rob and my dad played monkey in the middle with a frisbee with Greg while he was driving. Do we sound like rednecks or what? You might be a redneck if you’ve ever watched or participated in the sport of Tractor Driving Monkey in the Middle. Here are some pictures from the day.
The boys went back to school this past Thursday. So far everything is going great, which is in stark contrast to last year for Aric, who had the year from hell. We requested a teacher for him – he’s a young, energetic (and cute! Woo!) guy and we were fortunate to have gotten the request granted. For the first time in his life, Aric is liking school. I foresee very nice teacher’s presents in this guy’s future. Here are some pics of their first day and also of them messing around on all the band equipment in our basement. We’ve got a kickass setup down there – it’s actually a recording studio complete with mixing and sound boards and all musical instruments and equipments. Rob and Connor wet themselves every time they go downstairs, I think.
That’s it from my corner of the world – leave me a comment so I know you’re out there. :-)
