Pixel Protector

Wednesday, July 25th, 2007

Right after we got our new plasma TV, we thought there was a spot where pixels were missing. We bought the floor model since it was the last one in the showroom and we got a good deal on it, so when we saw that, we both freaked out a little bit. Thankfully, that wasn’t the case – all of our pixels are intact, but I just discovered there’s a protect that could fix a missing pixel, and more. Check out Pixel Protector – this is amazing. It’s a DVD that can repair burnt out pixels, remove screen burn, and even calibrate your TV for better performance.

I had no idea something like this even existed, because Rob is constantly making sure we turn the TVs off so we don’t get screen burn. In fact, on our last TV, we had some screen burn on the sides from the wide screen effect; I bet Pixel Protector could have removed it. Who would’ve thought? Certainly not us.

I’m impressed that Pixel Protector only costs $39.95; I think that’s a really low price to pay to protect such a high dollar investment. Buying a big screen TV like ours is an investment, and we’ve been worried about issues that can be fixed or prevented by a mere $40. Gotta love that.

Laptop Tray Thingee

Wednesday, July 25th, 2007

The other day, in a flash of inspiration, I stopped at a new (to me) Wal-Mart on the way home from my friend’s funeral. I have been wanting to check out this new store for a while, but never made the time. Something told me to stop on Saturday, so I did. I thought I was going to be able to find the hooks for my deck ledge planters, but they didn’t have any. However, I did find something that I’m just tickled about!

Check this out – it’s a laptop tray. Actually, I think it’s billed as a regular lap tray to put paperwork or books on or whatever.

I bought that red one for me and picked up a blue one for Rob. We are both loving them! Now the kids both want for themselves, too. I love how it is soft and cushy on my lap and doesn’t allow any of the heat from my laptop to seep through. I also really love the cup holder – it’s big enough for my big cups, even! And it’s incredibly light, so I don’t feel like I have a heavy load on my lap – it’s just perfect. We’ve actually been looking for something like this for months, and didn’t think it existed. Apparently it’s a pretty new item, because the cashier was quite interested in it at the check out stand. She even waved it around to her neighboring cashier because she loved it so much. The best part of the whole deal? It only cost $15! Score!

Driveway Alarms

Monday, July 16th, 2007

Did you hear about the poor Wisconsin State Senator who backed over his granddaughter and killed her last week? So terribly tragic. I can’t imagine what he and the rest of his family are going through right now. I know in my car I have the camera on the back so I can see what’s going on behind me on my dashboard monitor, but not every car is equipped with that. It’s a nice feature, that is for sure.

I was checking out these driveway alarms and thought with a little tweaking, this technology could definitely be put to use to save lives. They’re not currently designed to work in this manner, though. The driveway alarms are designed to signal an alert inside the house when someone approaches the house, whether on foot or in a car, so they are a great tool for letting you know you’ve got visitors. We could have used this yesterday when we were all downstairs playing pool and were expecting visitors. Instead, one of us kept going upstairs to check to see if anyone had arrived yet.

So, while the function these alarms provide out of the box is fantastic, just think of the potential they could hold of alerting you that a small child or animal was crossing your path behind you.

Bling Bling

Thursday, July 5th, 2007

I’m watching Big Brother 8 tonight (more on that later!) and I noticed Julie Chen had on some major bling. I was practically blinded through the screen over here. I found her jewelry to be tacky, honestly … she needs to check out the gemstones and diamond rings on WhiteFlash.com and pick out something much more elegant and tasteful. I am sure someone over there could set Julie straight, after reading their testimonials, I’m convinced they really take care of their customers and wouldn’t steer her wrong.

I am loving going through the rings for myself. I am such a diamond ring freak – I could look at them all day long. And it’s even more fun to check out the different styles online because there are no sales clerks to pressure you into buying.

History of Branding

Saturday, May 26th, 2007

I’ve spent a good deal of time reading about the most popular brands on our planet at the History of Branding page. Very clever idea and lots of interesting tidbits to be found there. I’ll have to keep visiting to read all about all of them; there’s too much information to take it all in in one sitting.
