The Jeninator

What in the world was up with Julie Chen’s necklace last night? She looked like Betty Rubble wearing Wilma Flintstone’s necklace. Absolutely priceless.

Soooo everyone hates Jen and wants to get her out, but Daniele decided to not stir up the pot when she won the Power of Veto and lo and behold… who wins HoH? JEN! Brilliant!

The cattiness between Carol and Jessica reached its peak last night, and Carol admitted to lying in the house when she said Jessica had changed since high school. She reneged on that real quick and basically said, “She’s the same stuck-up bitch she’s always been.” Which seems to be pretty true. I was surprised that the votes were 10-1 to evict Carol considering how many people were saying they wanted Amber gone when they were in the diary room. I miss the good ole days of Big Brother when the house guests were still naive enough to tell the truth in the diary room sessions. Now everyone’s game is on 24-7.

Oh, and how funny was it when Julie asked Kail about Eric confiding in her (the BS story he made up) and Kail was all, “Yeah, well, I’m the oldest one in the house, so it was just natural that he come talk to me and bow down to my wisdom.” Ha! Guess she bought his story hook, line, and sinker. I wonder how the house guests are going to react once they find out about the America’s Player thing. I still don’t understand the point of it. And if the house guests know there is someone in the house who is America’s Player, wouldn’t they be trying to sniff them out? It seems like it would be a huge disadvantage to be picked for that.

Looking forward to Sunday to see who Jen puts on the block. I think Kail is hoping it’s not her - did you see how she completely embraced Jen when she won? Jen’s face was like, “What are you so happy about, woman?” Heh.

Don’t Forget the Lyrics

My DVR was working overtime last night - there were a lot of good shows airing! I only watched So You Think You Can Dance and Don’t Forget the Lyrics, though. I’ll catch up with the other shows later. For some reason, I wasn’t too into SYTYCD last night. Two of the routines gave me chills, and I thought everyone did a great job, but I just wasn’t feeling it. I thought I was just too tired to enjoy anything on TV, but then we watched Don’t Forget the Lyrics and I perked right up. That Wayne Brady is just the best. Love him. I read the he filed for divorce recently, too. Hey, Wayne, baby… Heh.

I was all ready to point and laugh at the show’s first contestant ever - and I did at first, too, because her singing tone was just horrific and the dancing… OMG, the dancing. Loved that Wayne was making fun of her in his good natured way. And totally loved him pulling an audience member onto the stage to be backup dancers while she sang a Jackson 5 song. But as the show went on, I grew more impressed with the girl singing and the meanness started to dissipate. This chick knew her lyrics, man! She definitely blew me away with her ability to remember all the words to songs. Hell, I don’t think I ever knew some of those words to even be able to get to the state of remembering. So, props to her. And mega props to Wayne Brady - he is one talented, funny dude. Love him. I’m looking forward to the show tonight! If you missed it last night, you should definitely check it out tonight.

Sunday Night TV

It’s amazing how fast I get sucked into Big Brother. This season seems like it’s going to be a good one - I’m loving it already. We’ve got the house guest everyone loves to hate: Dick (Evil), we’ve got the tragically narcissistic chick who had a complete emotional breakdown because she didn’t like how her picture on the wall turned out (how funny was that??), we’ve got some flamboyantly gay boys who are at each other’s throats, we’ve got tons of eye candy. Big Brother is like the television equivalent of reading a Jackie Collins novel - and I love them both.

And then there’s John From Cincinnati. I keep trying to like this show, but it’s hard - real hard. And it doesn’t help matters any that I keep thinking David Milch ditched Deadwood for this crap. Is anyone else watching this show? Do you like it? Do you think Rebecca DeMornay is the biggest over-actor on the planet like I do? Do you have a general apathy towards all the characters, not really caring what happens to any of them? I’m mildly curious about the whole healing thing that’s going on, but it’s not like Lost where I am just dying to know the secrets of the island. This show is making me miss Deadwood more than I already did, especially since so many of the actors from that show are on this one. Bah.

So You Think You Can Dance?

Filed Under (Forever Young) by Amy on 29-06-2007

As you can see, I haven’t started doing recaps of the show yet. I just haven’t had the time! I watched the regular show and the results show last night, and it’s all just a blur to me now after 3 hours of footage. I still think there are too many dancers for me to have any strong feelings about one or another yet. Last night as some of the couples came on, I found myself wondering who a couple of them were until they started dancing and I remembered that I liked them.

Anyway, what did you think about the solos last night? Nigel ripped all the girls a new one and then abruptly let Jessi go. What was that all about? He had not one word of kindness, advice, nothing for her. Just, “You’re leaving tonight.” Buh bye. It was a very awkward, uncomfortable moment for all involved. I don’t think even Cat Deely was expecting it to go down like that, and she seemed a bit flustered. Jessi pretty much refused to comment when Cat asked her if she had anything to say. I want to know the inside scoop on what really went down now!

Oh, and word to the judges - next week when you’re judging the couples, don’t predict that anyone will be going home the next night. That tactic obviously backfired as America gave you all the middle finger and voted to keep Cedric and Shauna out of the bottom three. Also? Ditch Debbie Allen. She was the worst judge this show has seen yet. I don’t care if she’s an icon in the dance industry, she’s worthless as a judge.

Okay, I might not have done an “official” recap like I normally do, but I obviously still had something to say about the show this week. What are your thoughts?

RIP Liz Claiborne

Aww, I just read that Liz Claiborne passed away yesterday. She was 78 years old, bless her heart. I still remember when I first discovered the Liz Claiborne brand, and thought I was some hot shit right there. From her business suits with the giant, embedded shoulder pads, to her perfumes and purses, I was one stylin’ chick in the 90s thanks to Liz. Today I’m not so much a fan of her perfumes any more, but I still buy her clothes and shoes. I hope the company brand doesn’t change too much now that she’s gone.
