Grace is all rabified! Or anit-rabified. Or something. She had 3 shots yesterday, concluding her rabies series. She got a bunch of other inoculations in there, too, but I can’t remember any of the others except for Lyme. We switched vets for this visit because the first place we went to had all English-as-second language doctors who were terribly hard to understand and who didn’t seem to take a very big interest in Grace. Rob and I both want to have a good repoire and relationship with a vet, not just have it be a place to have the shots and be in and out as fast as possible. The new vet’s office seems to be a winner, I’m happy to report. They all welcomed Grace to the office with open arms and couldn’t get enough Grace lovin’. That’s what I’m talking about.
Grace weighs 26.5 pounds at 14 weeks, so she gained about 7 pounds in the past month. She also has a yeast infection in her right ear. We knew she had gunk in there and were cleaning it out with a tissue, but it really smelled and didn’t think it was right. The last vet said it was “just dirt”. Yeah. So now we have ear drops to clear up the infection, ear cleaner with instructions to clean her ears 2-3x per week and her ear smells better already. Oh, we also started her heartworm medication. It was a pretty eventful visit for our little baby! And after $171, it was an eventful visit for my wallet, too.
Her next visit will likely cost even more, as she’ll go back at 6 months to get spayed.
Did you ever think I would be writing 3 paragraph blog entries on a dog vet visit? Heh!
